San Juan Cathedral: Talking about the “Plaza de las Monjas” being one of the oldest plazas on the city, the oldest building would be the San Juan Cathedral. The Cathedral was the first cathedral church on the Western Hemisphere as San Juan. In the Cathedral you can find the tomb of Juan Ponce de Leon, the relices of Carlos Manuel Rodriguez Santiago, and the Virgen de la Providencia. 

End of the Royal Trail where the Ocean becomes the Bay:  This beautiful long trail is located at the end of the Paseo de la Princesa. The trail takes place at the border of the El Morro. In this trail you’ll be able to see the beautiful bay glistening under the sun and the strong walls of El Morro that have stood throughout all these years. 

San Juan City Hall: The structure stands in the middle of Old San Juan, in front of the Plaza de Armas. The building places events in which people are welcome to go. 

Casino de Puerto Rico: The Antiguo Casino of Puerto Rico was built in 1917, and has become one of Old San Juan’s most elegant buildings.  The building contains beautiful gardens, white marble floors an impressive central staircase and a twelve foot chandelier, but those are few of the things that the building holds inside. 

    

 José de Diego 
 Born in Puerto Rico but died in New York, (1867- 1918). He started studying in Mayagüez but continued in Spain. He was a poet, politician, and a lawyer. Many of the poems he wrote had to do much                                                        with politics, also some of religious ideas.  

Plaza de las Monjas: This small plaza is probably one of the oldest plazas in the city. It is across from the Hotel El Convento, in front of the “Catedral de San Juan Bautista.” It is a beautiful place to be, with the colorful structures surrounding the plaza, the shade, the breeze, and overall everything.

Plaza de Armas: It’s one of the main squares in the Old San Juan and it has a beautiful fountain which has marble statues around it. After a day of walking, it is a wonderful place to rest under the trees and crisp breeze.
