Jose Gautier Benitez- Born in Caguas on the year 1848 and died in San Juan on the year 1880. Considered the representative of romanticism in Puerto Rico. After his father’s death Jose decided to follow the path of become a part of the military. During his years in Spain he wrote poems about Puerto Rico
